CHICANO BATMAN

/ About the project
For Chicano Batman’s album Notebook Fantasy, I led the creative direction, production, and execution of a universe that reflected the band’s artistic growth while staying true to the indie aura that built their cult following. The project translated sound into story, creating a visual language that felt expansive, intentional, and unmistakably theirs.
Challenge
With a devoted fanbase deeply connected to the band’s roots, the challenge was evolution without alienation. The visual work needed to reflect musical growth and signal a new chapter while preserving the humor, warmth, and cultural cues longtime fans cherished. At the same time, the album had to welcome new listeners without compromising the band’s identity.
Solution
The creative vision was anchored in a reimagined hero’s journey shaped by psychedelic exploration, playful wit, and respect for the band’s history. Rather than focusing on a single protagonist, the narrative blended the personalities and ideas of all three band members into a unified archetype.
This concept guided every touchpoint, from album artwork to the visual direction of music videos, establishing a cohesive feeling that was both familiar and unexpected. The result was a fully realized launch that honored the past while opening the door to new audiences, inviting fans to step into a version of Chicano Batman they had never seen before.
