NOTEBOOK FANTASY

/ About the project
For Chicano Batman’s album Notebook Fantasy, I led the creative direction, production, and execution of a visual world that mirrored the band’s artistic growth while staying grounded in the sensibility that earned them a cult following. The project translated sound into story—building a new universe that felt expansive, intentional, and unmistakably them.
Challenge
With a dedicated fanbase deeply connected to the band’s roots, the challenge was evolution without alienation. The work needed to reflect musical and visual growth, signaling a new chapter while maintaining the humor, warmth, and cultural cues longtime fans cherished. At the same time, the album had to invite new listeners into the fold without diluting the band’s identity.
Solution
We anchored the creative vision in a reimagined hero’s journey—one shaped by psychedelic exploration, playful wit, and deep respect for the band’s history. Rather than a singular protagonist, the narrative blended the personalities and ideas of all three band members into a unified archetype.
This concept guided every touchpoint, from the album artwork to the visual direction of the music videos, creating a cohesive visual language that felt both familiar and unexpected. The result was a fully realized world that honored the past while opening the door to new audiences—inviting fans old and new to step into a version of Chicano Batman they hadn’t seen before.
